Welcome to DomeHome Canada

The interest in unconventional homes is very high due to many factors. The high
cost of conventional homes is driving some to look at attractive alternatives. We
have seen homes made from a variety of materials, some interesting and some so abstract
as to question sanity of the builder. Depending on location there are homes build
from STRAW, RAMMED EARTH, TIRES, SHORT LOGS, BOTTLES ETC. However the most practical
and most efficient as well as the longest life home is the properly constructed
underground home. Made from poured concrete life expectance is in excess on 1000
years and coupled with efficiency and low maintenance these homes have a large following.
The demographics of interest are in our favor since the younger people have through
education a greater degree of understanding of energy conservation and environmental
factors. They are in tune with everything that is available in an underground home.
Also it appears that they are able to think out side of the box in most cases. We invite you to read further about our unique project.

The main contractors have left for home and I have taken photos of front, rear, and inside of the home as it now sits. I was at the site today with our engineer and went over the construction for his report to the building inspector. He was most impressed with quality of the work and has been commissioned to do the engineering on our construction plans for these homes. I will be building these structures in the very near future. First, I must get in my own home and get it in a conditio to show it in all its glory. I must admit to the fact that it seems quite large at this time. We even have room for Tatiana's soon to be purchased grand piano. Keep in touch. Royce/Tatiana

Photos have been added showing the entire structure to date with form for the last module geing assembled. It will be poured on Monday Feb 10. We have settled on water proofing and are most pleased to announce that AquaSeal has the right product, besides a 30 year warranty it is easy to apply, has tremendous flexability and in great for enviromental factors. Please check out their web site at: www.aquasealusa.com. We will be distributor for this product and will use it on all of our new structures. They even have product to apply on inside of basement walls that will with stand 200 psi of pressure from opposite side. I am installing a stove for additional heat and hope to warm up enough to start digging for utililties next week. Next year on groundhog day I will emerge from my house and declare the timing of the end of winter.

Here are photos of the inside of first dome with proper lighting to show the magnificent skylights. The second dome was poured on Monday past and there is to be another on Monday Jan 31 all things equal. We are gathering up items that will be needed right away, frames for skylights are in progress by Tatiana and myself but it is tough working in an unheated barn. We hope to have the garage doors on next week as well as both man doors for the garage then I can apply some heat. Second module is living dining and kitchen and I will get the patio windows and doors installed to close it in then we will thaw it out and dig trenches for utilities. Will get back soon. After promising to be back on January 5 and 7, the construction team ended up here on January 14, with only one of original workers; they are back up to strength and trying to pour the second module, but it must be clear of snow and ice. Now you have to get rid of the ice. They claim that the work will be done by the end of this month, but I have my doubts. We have purchased a second oil heater and are in process of adding a wood burning device to a garage dome to get extra heat in order to melt all the snow and the ice, as well as to heat concrete for finishing. We do have hydro now, which is more convenient than using a generator. More news next week and more photos to come. Royce/Tatiana

2005 IS HERE AND WE ARE READY TO ROLL
My contractors are due back on Friday, Jan 7 and we should have the second module poured by Tuesday, Jan 11. They claim I will have the concrete part done by middle of Jan. Still having problems with Ontario Hydro and it seems that the right hand does not know what the left is doing. First we failed inspection, then with nothing to change we passed, then the instalation crew claimed we were in default and again we are on the go with no changes. $600.00 + for a generator all due to a disfunctional organization that cannot make up its mind and they want another fee due to their incompetence. It almost makes you laugh in between cursing them out. I will give the full story later just to show what can happen with a bloated system.
P.S. Ignore spelling errors since I have been unable to make changes without loosing everything. Bye for now. Royce/Tatiana
